Orchestra Miami concludes its series of Free Outdoor Concerts, with “Beethoven on the Beach”, a celebration of the lives of heroic men. This concert is presented as a gift to the community, and is completely free of charge. The concert is co-sponsored by the Miami Salon Group, the City of Miami Beach and BB&T Bank.

This final outdoor performance will be presented on Saturday, May 19 at 7:00 PM, at the newly renovated North Shore Park Bandshell (also known as the “73rd Street Bandshell”), located at 7250 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. The venue is situated in the south part of the beautiful North Shore Park. There are bleacher-style seats available, and there is plenty of green space for guests to bring a lawn chair or a blanket. Picnicking is encouraged and beverages will be available for purchase.

The program includes Mozart’s “Overture to the Magic Flute”, Lee Hoiby’s “I Have a Dream” featuring Graham Fandrei as the baritone soloist, and Beethoven’s iconic Symphony #5 in c minor, Op. 67. All three performances will be conducted by Orchestra Miami’s Artistic Director, Elaine Rinaldi.

This year’s theme, “Beethoven on the Beach”, makes the connection between Beethoven and Civil Rights through the Age of Enlightenment. “For me, these concerts are about community”, says Artistic Director Rinaldi. “It makes me very happy to be able to bring people together to enjoy our gorgeous weather and share in the experience of listening to high quality classical music. This is the perfect opportunity to introduce your children to the excitement of live classical music.”

Miami Metropolitan International Fashion Week encompasses the rich cultural diversity that has shaped the city of Miami. By every definition of the word, Miami is a metropolis and a cultural melting pot. With many of the city’s inhabitants and visitors hailing from across the globe, the city sidewalks have morphed into catwalks. The founders of MMIFW wanted to present a centralized opportunity for known designers to expand their market, as well as give up-and-coming designers an opportunity to launch their brand.

May 2012 launches the first annual debut of Miami Metropolitan International Fashion Week. Featuring U.S. and international designers, the event kicks off with Day Wear, followed by Evening Wear, and finishing up with swimwear. The Spring 2012 edition of Miami Metropolitan Fashion Week will take place in the trendy LMNT Art Space.

Astonishingly, despite all his success in the worlds of chart music and film, Oakenfold has found time to keep in touch with his roots as a club DJ. The last 3 years he held a weekly residency at the legendary Rain Nightclub at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Perfecto Vegas was a fully produced show with 75 circus performers, cutting edge visuals and special effects – giving the 3,000–strong crowd a truly unique experience. In 2012 Paul will tour world wide supporting the We Are Planet Perfecto compilation as well as embarking on his Four Seasons tour. He also expands his Las Vegas circuit with dates at Hyde Bellagio, Tao Nightclub at Venetian and Marquee inside The Cosmopolitan. This summer season Paul launches Perfecto Dreams, a pool concept party that will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. We are honored to have him headline our event this year.

It is sometimes hard to believe that the Grammy nomination for Nadia Ali’s “Fantasy” (Morgan Page Remix) is only one of many milestones marking her musical achievements. Nadia’s career exploded as a member of “iiO” with the massive 2001 hit, “Rapture”. Quickly leaping to #2 on the UK Singles chart, “Rapture” would propel Nadia into the spotlight and serve as a shadow of things to come. Now armed with a solid decade of commercial success and an almost feverish evolution of artistic expansion… Something tells us that Nadia Ali is just warming up. To date, Nadia’s career as singer/songwriter has attracted a massive international following resulting from a masterful exploitation of captivating vocals and dance music. Nadia has attributed this unmistakable style to the overarching influence of her eastern ancestry, as well as the diverse cultural climate of her upbringing in Queens, New York.

As an added punch to the event, Ultra Naté will be celebrating her 20 plus years in House Music. In her two decades of making music, Ultra Naté has remained a musical chameleon, embracing a variety of sounds, from R&B/hip-hop, soul and disco to house, rock and electro-pop. Twenty years after sashaying onto international dance floors with the club anthem, “It’s Over Now,” Naté stands tall and proud, proving that artist longevity, though not common for singers of dance music, is alive and well—and a real possibility for those willing to work hard for the money.

Ultra Naté’s 20 plus years in the business comes at a time of non-stop work and recording sessions. In addition to prepping her eighth studio album Hero Worship (set for release in 2012), Ultra Naté’s been busy in the studio with David Morales (for his upcoming album and hers); Robbie Rivera (for his new album); Quentin Harris (a project entitled Black Stereo Faith that Naté describes as “sexy soul meets rock with a twinge of disco funk”); Nervo (co-writers of David Guetta’s worldwide chart topping “When Love Takes Over” featuring Kelly Rowland) and Nicola Fasano (Italian DJ/producer responsible for the club hit “75, Brazil Street,” which was reworked by rapper Pitbull for his smash single, “I Know You Want Me”) and a new EP project with Baltimore’s Unruly Records crew entitled “Things Happen at Night” (a mix of hyped-up hip-hopgrooves, raw house beats, heaving bass and ass-shaking beats). Additional collaborations include “Waiting On You,” a funky disco duet with Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams,”Right Now,” with house music innovator Todd Terry and the chart-topping “Destination,” with Tony Moran, a circuit party anthemwhich has just gone top 10 on Billboard’s club chart.

CLICK HERE TO BUY TICKETS on WANTICKETS NOW!!

Ultra Nate’ will perform many of her international dance hits. To round out the party, legendary Tony Humphries, Japan’s Studio Apartment, Italy’s Harley&Muscle,Groove Junkies, DJ Spen, Joyce Muniz, and plenty of other top international acts and live performances to be announced.

Finally, weare also proud to partner with Sunburn Goa and Seven Amazon out of Brazil, which will make their debut at the WMC during the Future Classics Pool Party with its own stage. Sunburn is an electronic dance music festival held in Candolim Beach, Goa, India. The festival is anamalgamation of music, entertainment, food and shopping, and was ranked by CNN in 2009 as the ninth best festival in the world. The festival is organized by Shailendra Singh in partnership with Nikhil Chinapa. Held over three days, the festival has multiple stages with artists playing simultaneously daily.

Seven Amazon is the biggest electronic music company in Manaus – Amazonas – Brazil producing outstanding events including cutting edge artists in its line-up. SevenAmazon has included on the route of Brazil’s night life, like São Paulo and Santa Catarina, always looking for the cutting edge of music and giving its audience the Best. Expect to see some amazing talent and surprise guests on the Sunburn and Seven Amazon stage.

What makes a DJ brilliant? Is it the success of your #1 remixes for pop, rap, R&B and country superstars? Is it the frenzied flocking of fans to the clubs every time your name is printed on a flyer? Is it the constant flow of promoters throwing money at you to spin marathon sets? If you’re DJ BORIS, brilliance encompasses all of these things.
Born in Russia’s St. Petersburg in March of 1973, BORIS’ (Boris Inzhin) pumping-hard, driving sound has become synonymous with “the New York sound,” often imitated in cities around the world. The energetic, uplifting music that BORIS masterfully crafts from the DJ booth has frequently caught the attention of major record labels: Virgin Records retained BORIS to remix Janet Jackson’s “All I Want” and Thalia’s “I’m In Love,” Epic Records hired BORIS to remix Anastacia’s “Left Outside Alone,” Atlantic Records contracted BORIS to remix Jewel’s “Stand,” and Columbia Records employed BORIS to remix Pink’s “Real Good Feel Good.”

After creating and organizing the Coconut Grove King Mango Strut 30 years ago, Glen Terry has done it again. He has started the 1st Annual Wynwood King Mango Strut and goLIVEmiami was there. Glen is famous for creating organic projects like this performance art parade that anyone can participate in. Social issues are the theme with a sarcastic tongue-in-cheek approach. Create your own one man/woman float or go in a group. Watch the beginning of what will surely become a world class underground event.

The parade took place on December 10th on a 3-acre private lot on 22nd Street and N.W. Second Avenue. From there parade goers went to Wynwood Walls Art Compex. Live music was by the Gold Doust Lounge.

The Wynwood parade does not replace the Coconut Grove Parade. This year the 30th Annual Coconut Grove King Mango Strut Parade takes place on Saturday, December 31st at 2p.m.

Tell us below in the comments section what you think of the parades! We want to know!

Design Miami/, the global forum for design, will hold the 2011 edition of its show November 30 – December 4, in a custom structure, erected adjacent to its sister fair Art Basel Miami Beach. The fair boasts a newly expanded gallery program with choice exhibitors from America, Europe, Asia and Africa presenting important works of 20th and 21st century design, including furniture, lighting and objets d’art. This year’s fair will see a 50% increase in participating galleries and will host a program of Talks, Satellite Exhibitions and custom commissions exploring the relationship between design and architecture.

Design Miami/ has become the destination for collectors seeking both established and cutting-edge emerging design for private and museum collections. Each fair presents a competitively curated selection of international galleries – all top specialists in their fields – representing important works by French architects of 40s and 50s, Brazilian and California Modern, Scandinavian Mid-Century, Postmodern Italian design, the French 60s and 70s, Korean craft, artists’ and designers’ jewelry and a large spectrum of experimental contemporary work from both lauded established and emerging designers.

The fair’s list of prestigious exhibitors draws influential collectors, institutions, designers, critics and industry luminaries from around the world. Design Miami/ maintains a consistent roster of the world’s most active design galleries, including: Galerie Patrick Seguin (Paris), Galerie kreo (Paris), Carpenters Workshop Gallery (London & Paris), Demisch Danant (NY), R 20th Century (NY), Johnson Trading Gallery (NY), Jousse Entreprise (NY) and Cristina Grajales Gallery (NY). This Miami fair also welcomes back Galerie Downtown – François Laffanour (Paris), Dansk Møbelkunst Gallery (Zurich & Paris), Hostler Burrows (NY), moss (NY), Magen H. Gallery (NY) and Galerie VIVID (Rotterdam).

First-time exhibitors include Didier Ltd (London), Galerie Maria Wettergren (Paris), Galerie Pierre Marie Giraud (Brussels), Mark McDonald (Hudson, NY), Modernity (Stockholm) and Novalis Fine Arts (Turin). In addition, the Design On/Site program, the showcase for small-scale yet high-level exhibitions of new work by individual designers or studios, will include Design Miami’s first ever participant from Africa, Southern Guild (Wilderness).

Alongside these venerable galleries, Design Miami/ organizes a cultural program that profiles established and up-and-coming designers, commissions new architectural and design work and brings together luminaries from the worlds of design, art, fashion and architecture to discuss their influences and process.

A highlight of this December’s show is the site-specific installation by Designer of the Year Award winner, UK-based architect David Adjaye. As his award commission, Adjaye will create a pavilion, entitled Genesis. Adjaye calls Genesis his first work of “giant architectural furniture” that combines structure, seating,
windows and doors into a single gesture.

For the second consecutive year, Design Miami’s Design Talks series will be moderated by W Magazine Editor-in-Chief Stefano Tonchi. Over the course of three days, these conversations will include a selection the world’s top architects, discussing their careers, collaborations and passions.

As part of the show’s series of satellite exhibitions, the Miami Design District presents in collaboration with the Buckminster Fuller Foundation, utopian architect Fuller’s 1970s Fly’s Eye Dome alongside Lord Norman Foster’s reconstructed Dymaxion car. The fair also welcomes a capsule exhibition of the french design show Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity presented by The Wolfsonian Museum.

Design Miami’s ambitious curatorial program and investment in bringing the most exciting names in design to the fair would not be possible without the generous commitment of its partners. Audi, Design Miami’s Exclusive Automotive Sponsor, Fendi and Swarovski Crystal Palace will unveil new design projects at the fair; Veuve Clicquot and Cappellini also continue their support with the 2011 show.
