Orchestra Miami concludes its series of Free Outdoor Concerts, with “Beethoven on the Beach”, a celebration of the lives of heroic men. This concert is presented as a gift to the community, and is completely free of charge. The concert is co-sponsored by the Miami Salon Group, the City of Miami Beach and BB&T Bank.

This final outdoor performance will be presented on Saturday, May 19 at 7:00 PM, at the newly renovated North Shore Park Bandshell (also known as the “73rd Street Bandshell”), located at 7250 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. The venue is situated in the south part of the beautiful North Shore Park. There are bleacher-style seats available, and there is plenty of green space for guests to bring a lawn chair or a blanket. Picnicking is encouraged and beverages will be available for purchase.

The program includes Mozart’s “Overture to the Magic Flute”, Lee Hoiby’s “I Have a Dream” featuring Graham Fandrei as the baritone soloist, and Beethoven’s iconic Symphony #5 in c minor, Op. 67. All three performances will be conducted by Orchestra Miami’s Artistic Director, Elaine Rinaldi.

This year’s theme, “Beethoven on the Beach”, makes the connection between Beethoven and Civil Rights through the Age of Enlightenment. “For me, these concerts are about community”, says Artistic Director Rinaldi. “It makes me very happy to be able to bring people together to enjoy our gorgeous weather and share in the experience of listening to high quality classical music. This is the perfect opportunity to introduce your children to the excitement of live classical music.”

Representing the Beach Arena on Day 1 is two-time Grammy Nominee Paul Oakenfold, who has shaped an entire genre of music over the last three decades and is one of the leading forces in electronic music to this day. The unveiling of NSA’s new stage area this year, The Garden, welcomes techno legend Carl Craig as he hosts his handpicked underground lineup for Carl Craig & Friends, where himself and a Special Surprise Guest will be performing a Miami Music Week exclusive back-to-back set. BBC Radio’s first lady Heidi proudly introduces the 2012 version of her Jackathon party which will feature an A-list collection of deep house and underground including artists of the moment Maya Jane Coles and Maceo Plex. Meanwhile numerical music pioneer Joachim Garraud takes full control of the Bass Rage stage along with special guests Jack Beats and an array of global electro and dubstep artists.

Day 2 on the Beach Arena sees Grammy winner Sharam leading his way as he returns to NSA for his third consecutive year, along with UK’s James Zabiela, Argentina’s Hernan Cattaneo, and a handful of other international selections. The Garden converts into a full-on Cadenza Music showcase with Reboot and his label-mates putting together a full day of special DJ sets and LIVE shows. Astonishingly, despite all his success in the worlds of chart music and film, Oakenfold has found time to keep in touch with his roots as a club DJ. The last 3 years he held a weekly residency at the legendary Rain Nightclub at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Perfecto Vegas was a fully produced show with 75 circus performers, cutting edge visuals and special effects – giving the 3,000–strong crowd a truly unique experience. In 2012 Paul will tour world wide supporting the We Are Planet Perfecto compilation as well as embarking on his Four Seasons tour. He also expands his Las Vegas circuit with dates at Hyde Bellagio, Tao Nightclub at Venetian and Marquee inside The Cosmopolitan. This summer season Paul launches Perfecto Dreams, a pool concept party that will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. We are honored to have him headline our event this year.

It is sometimes hard to believe that the Grammy nomination for Nadia Ali’s “Fantasy” (Morgan Page Remix) is only one of many milestones marking her musical achievements. Nadia’s career exploded as a member of “iiO” with the massive 2001 hit, “Rapture”. Quickly leaping to #2 on the UK Singles chart, “Rapture” would propel Nadia into the spotlight and serve as a shadow of things to come. Now armed with a solid decade of commercial success and an almost feverish evolution of artistic expansion… Something tells us that Nadia Ali is just warming up. To date, Nadia’s career as singer/songwriter has attracted a massive international following resulting from a masterful exploitation of captivating vocals and dance music. Nadia has attributed this unmistakable style to the overarching influence of her eastern ancestry, as well as the diverse cultural climate of her upbringing in Queens, New York.

As an added punch to the event, Ultra Naté will be celebrating her 20 plus years in House Music. In her two decades of making music, Ultra Naté has remained a musical chameleon, embracing a variety of sounds, from R&B/hip-hop, soul and disco to house, rock and electro-pop. Twenty years after sashaying onto international dance floors with the club anthem, “It’s Over Now,” Naté stands tall and proud, proving that artist longevity, though not common for singers of dance music, is alive and well—and a real possibility for those willing to work hard for the money.

Ultra Naté’s 20 plus years in the business comes at a time of non-stop work and recording sessions. We are pleased to announce a vibrant art exhibition, a tribute to POP ART, this March 30th, 2012 at Chirinos Sanchez Gallery (CS Gallery) – conveniently located in North Miami Beach, right across from MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art). This group exhibition is featuring exclusive works by Aisha Blakey, Xibie Corea, Floyd the Rock Artist (featuring Ed King, the Neo-Pop Artist), it truly doesn’t get more exciting than this. Opening reception will happen during the “third Friday of the month” – Jazz night at MOCA.

I used to ride three buses home everyday. I had a lot of time to see people from very different backgrounds and destinations share moments together. While studying sculpture at the University of Florida, I explored these moments. I moved back to Miami. Now I make sculpture based on my fascination with how we tell our own stories. I think about my cultural differences and how we make sacrifices, or should, in order to live together. I make objects to populate our world.

Floyd
A pioneer in the Motion Art movement; he is the only artist of his kind who creates art with rock bands. The final product is a revolution on canvas fueled by the music’s energy and Floyd’s art. Floyd has appeared on more than 40 TV programs. In 2011 he premiered his Art Video shot to the song “Blen Blen Remix” exclusively on Buenos Dias Miami on Telemundo. In April 2011, Floyd had a solo exhibit at Show Business TV’s production studio at Wynwood Art District. The show which airs across Latin America and the Caribbean features Latin and American celebrities at the peak of their popularity. Due to the highly successful exhibit Floyd’s art is now a regular installment and serves as a backdrop for the interviews. Floyd has worked with Edesio Alejandro and has been invited to exhibit his work in New York City at a charity gala event with participants including Victoria Secret models, championship NASCAR winners and elite fashion designers at Gloria Cressler’s Austrian Forum Cultural Event. Xibie Corea
Miami local artist, born in São Paulo, Brazil. Moved to the United States in 1993. Got involved with the arts and received her Bachelors in Fine Arts from New World School of the Arts/University of Florida in 2006. Xibie has been working in her field as an art director for many years. In 2003 she joined “Art by Girls” and that venture happened ‘till 2007, where she curated and managed exhibitions as well as showed some of her own work. Now Having exhibited in 15+ shows locally, Xibie is now working independently within commercial arts, painting, photography and is much involved with the “blogging” world. Xibie’s main influences are Warhol, Basquiat, Miro and Mackenzie Thorpe (as well as illustrators such as Natalie Dee, Exploding Dog, etc). Oh, and most definitely street art/graffiti and stickers! Being categorized as “pop” as well as “neo-expressionism” artist, Xibie is eager to keep on developing her work while becoming more involved with the community.

Ed King
Since 2003, award winning neo-pop artist Ed King has been living his dream of creating fun and inspiring artwork for clients all over the world. His use of vibrant colors, black outlines, and his signature stitching has won over the hearts and minds of South Florida. While Miami is his home base, Ed King has delivered paintings, prints, and calendars to homes throughout the United States, Canada, England, France, Germany, Australia, Venezuela, Kuwait, and more. Beyond the upbeat look and feel of the work is an undercurrent of positive messages of prosperity and happiness which is displayed for each painting in his online gallery. “There is a ‘fun-tellectual aspect to my work that people really connect with,” states King. “My job is to bring smiles to the faces of people all over the world. Wherever my art goes, smiles follow”. Artist Ed King has been selected as one of the top creative minds in South Florida by SoFi Magazine, was featured in the German travel magazine GoSixt, and was commissioned to create his artwork into a special award for the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. King has previously won the Calabash Visual Arts Community Service Award, worked with autistic children at the Carrie Brazer Center, and has painted with the kids of Holtz Children’s Hospital. King’s work has represented the “Sunny Isles Beach Jazz Festival” and “Carnaval on the Mile” posters as well as the Legal Service of Greater Miami’s “Heart of Giving” campaign.
