SUMMARY: Christina Aguilera makes her dramatic feature debut as Ali, a small-town singer who takes her shot at stardom performing at a neo-burlesque nightclub in Los Angeles. Situated in a regal old theater that’s still dazzling despite having fallen into disrepair, The Burlesque Lounge is the kind of club where legends are born. When club owner Tess (Cher) hires charismatic Ali as a cocktail waitress, the ambitious big-city newcomer goes to great lengths to make a good impression. Taken under the wing of a friendly featured dancer (Julianne Hough), Ali quickly realizes that not everyone is quite as nice when she forms a friendship with bartender/aspiring musician Jack (Cam Gigandet) and incurs the wrath of the club’s cattiest showgirl (Kristen Bell). After making her leap to the stage with a little help from a sympathetic stage manager (Stanley Tucci) and the club’s playfully androgynous host (Alan Cumming), Ali becomes the star attraction at The Burlesque Lounge, and the crowds start packing in. Later, a wealthy businessman (Eric Dane) makes a bid for the club while trying to charm the talented young performer straight into his arms.

MTV and Screen Gems held a dance contest in Florida at CityPlace in West Palm Beach for the new film BURLESQUE starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. The contest was held in various states all over the US. The winner from the contest was Katelynn Draper, an 18 year old amateur dancer that has amazing dancing technique with great talent.

By winning the first round she received $300 and a BURLESQUE prize pack. She competed against 22 other amateur dancers. Now she is in the second portion of the contest which displays her video on MTV.com’s site burlesque.mtv.com. There are 20 finalists and the dancer’s video with the most votes will win $5000 and be able to perform on MTV.

Voting ends Wednesday, November 17 by 3:00pm EST.

About Katelynn Draper: Katelynn Draper has been dancing since the age of 2 1/2.  She has studied many forms of dance including Ballet such as ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, salsa, belly dancing and musical theatre.  She has attended several Summer Intensive programs including Frank Hatchett’s and Sheila Barker’s Intensives at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City as well as a three week summer program at Syracuse University.

Movie Summary: Ali (Christina Aguilera) is a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship and an uncertain future to follow her dreams to LA. After stumbling upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theater that is home to an inspired musical revue, Ali lands a job as a cocktail waitress from Tess (Cher), the club’s proprietor and headliner.
